Northwestern is ranked highly in their home state and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Jefferson. The Northwestern Bulls fell just short of the Jefferson Orange Wave by a score of 66-64. The Bulls' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Several Bulls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dwight Carter, who went 5 of 7 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamiro Smith, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Northwestern's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1. As for Jefferson, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern and Evans will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on December 27th. Northwestern knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Evans likes a good challenge. As for Jefferson, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Boys & Girls at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
