Softball Game Preview: St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs vs. Boone County Rebels

The St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs will square off against the Boone County Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Ursula Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, St. Ursula Academy earned a 7-2 victory over Ursuline Academy. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

O Basil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Ursula Academy let J Vogelgesang and V Oberkorn run wild. Vogelgesang went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Oberkorn went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Vogelgesang a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of A Bunner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

St. Ursula Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Boone County suffered their closest defeat since April 19, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Cooper by a score of 7-5. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Boone County's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for St. Ursula Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Everything went St. Ursula Academy's way against Boone County in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as St. Ursula Academy made off with a 14-1 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
