Softball Recap: Ayersville Triumphs

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ayersville walked away with it. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Hilltop Cadets on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Pilots in their matchups with the Cadets: they've now won three in a row.

Kendra Waldron made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Danniella Coble was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

Ayersville's record now sits at 20-2. As for Hilltop, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-5.

Coming up, Ayersville will take on Edgerton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pilots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. Hilltop does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
