Basketball Recap: Gilmer County Takes a Loss

If Gilmer County was feeling good fresh off their 65-26 takedown of Paden City last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gilmer County Titans took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roane County Raiders on Tuesday. The Titans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 71-61.

Roane County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cam Cumpston, who went 9 for 11 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. Cumpston is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Odle, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 18 points and five boards.

Gilmer County's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Roane County, their record is now 4-8.

Gilmer County has already played their next match (against Calhoun), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Roane County will head out to challenge Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Roane County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
