The Mather Rangers will venture away from home to face off against the Northridge Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northridge will be up against a hot Mather squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Rangers' way against Westinghouse on Thursday as they made off with a 16-2 victory.

Jadier Castillo and Caden Krabill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Castillo pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Krabill struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Castillo posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Castillo went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Krabill went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Castillo has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Goytia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aaron Roman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Mather always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Northridge made sure to put some runs up on the board against North Shore Country Day on Wednesday. The Knights never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. Surprisingly, this marked the Knights' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Northridge pushed their record up to 14-14 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Mather, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Mather might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Northridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Rangers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
