Softball Game Preview: Page Sand Devils vs. Monument Valley Mustangs

Page is a perfect 10-0 against Monument Valley since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Page Sand Devils will square off against the Monument Valley Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Page will be strutting in after a victory while Monument Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

On Monday, Page was able to grind out a solid win over Ganado, taking the game 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sand Devils.

Leah Bigthumb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Makenna Nez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Vanona Long was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Monument Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Chinle on Monday and fell 7-6.

The victory got Page back to even at 3-3. As for Monument Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went Page's way against Monument Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Page made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Page since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
