            Softball Recap: Wasilla Warriors vs. Lathrop Malemutes        
        
		
        
        
            Wasilla faced Lathrop in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Warriors were the clear victors by  a  14-2 margin over the Malemutes. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous   contest.

 Mia Caldwell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up just two earned runs off   five  hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in May of 2024.
 In other batting news, Wasilla got a  massive  performance out of  Allison Devine, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with four  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  RBI. That's the most  hits  Devine has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Avery Cook, who  went 3-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.
 Wasilla  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .724. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Wasilla picked up their first home  win, bumping their record up to 3-8-1. As for Lathrop, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the  loss, which was their third straight  on the road.
 Looking ahead, Wasilla will welcome West Valley  on Saturday. The Wolf Pack have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11  runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lathrop, they are taking a road trip to  challenge Colony  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Malemutes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.2  runs per game this season.
