Volleyball Recap: Marshall Rams vs. Lamar Vikings
Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lamar Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Friday.
Marieme Fall paced Marshall's offense, picking up 14 kills. Fall got some help from Gianna Leyva and her 18 assists. Finally, Fall was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.
Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Lamar, they moved to 5-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Looking ahead, Marshall will head out to square off against Taft at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Rams' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Lamar, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Copperas Cove on the 16th.
