Basketball Recap: Berthoud Falls to Silver Creek in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Berthoud unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt an 85-55 loss at the hands of the Silver Creek Raptors on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Raptors recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Berthoud lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ryan Callies, who posted 20 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Landon Russick, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Silver Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Gorr led the charge by shooting 56% from the field on his way to 15 points along with eight boards and six steals. Those six steals gave Gorr a new career-high. Luke Schmeeckle was another key player, going 9-for-20 en route to 24 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Berthoud has already played their next game, a 70-64 victory against Loveland on the 6th. As for Silver Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-38 win against Canon City on the 4th.
