Basketball Game Preview: Rolesville Rams vs. New Hanover Wildcats

Two dominant guards in Caiden Jenkins and Rodmik Allen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Rolesville Rams will challenge the New Hanover Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rolesville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season.

Last Monday, Rolesville ended up a good deal behind Knightdale and lost 60-46. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Knights are ranked 46th).

Despite the loss, Rolesville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anthony Roberts, Jr posted 11 points and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Roberts, Jr. Another player making a difference was Cannon Marshall, who scored seven points.

Meanwhile, New Hanover waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 20 straight wins... but they left with 21. They strolled past the Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 66-51.

New Hanover's win came from a few key players Rolesville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nolan Billings, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellum Brown, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards.

New Hanover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

New Hanover's win bumped their record up to 25-2. As for Rolesville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rolesville has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like New Hanover struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.7 boards.
