Softball Recap: Athens Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Athens ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Groves Falcons 12-10. The victory was nothing new for the Red Hawks as they're now sitting on four straight.

Leah Dahlerup was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Addison Cosgrove was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Athens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Athens now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Groves, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Athens will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
