Baseball Game Preview: Rochester Rockets vs. Coal City Coalers

The Rochester Rockets will square off against the Coal City Coalers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rochester's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Coal City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Rochester and Sacred Heart-Griffin finished up their matchup with a 4-4 draw.

Meanwhile, Coal City waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Kays as they made off with a 20-5 win. Considering the Coalers have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Coal City got a massive performance out of Kellen Forsythe, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave Forsythe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe McHugh, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Coal City's victory bumped their record up to 20-11. Rochester's tie gives them a new season record of 20-8-1.

Rochester skirted past Coal City 8-7 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Coalers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
