Baseball Game Preview: Rock Creek Academy Lions vs. Henryville Hornets

The Rock Creek Academy Lions will head out to square off against the Henryville Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Creek Academy has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Rock Creek Academy's offense. They lost 11-0 to LKY on Saturday. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Henryville's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Eastern on Monday. The Hornets skirted past New Washington 9-7. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Jack Bridges made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Henryville is 2-1 when Bridges allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Bridges was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Owens, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Winters, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Rock Creek Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Henryville, their record now sits at 4-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rock Creek Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Henryville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts.
