Basketball Game Preview: Lake Oswego Lakers vs. Sprague Olympians

The Lake Oswego Lakers will square off against the Sprague Olympians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Lake Oswego didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past Ridgeview with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 69-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lakers.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Sprague's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 87-76 to South Salem. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Olympians came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Saxons are ranked 65th).

Lake Oswego has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Sprague, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Lake Oswego was able to grind out a solid victory over Sprague in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 67-60. Does Lake Oswego have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sprague turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
