Softball Recap: Nelson Comes Up Short

After flying high against Aloha last Monday, Nelson came back down to earth. Nelson came up short against the Westview Wildcats on Wednesday, falling 13-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Nelson of the 11-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Nelson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Nix, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Nelson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Looking ahead, Nelson will look to defend their home field on Friday against Reynolds at 5:00 p.m. The matchup will give Nelson their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Westview, they will square off against Mountainside at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
