Softball Recap: Trinity Comes Up Short

Trinity had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it eight. They lost 16-1 to the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Blazers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Trinity saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Trendel, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As for Aurora Central Catholic, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-5. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Aurora Central Catholic's side, Corina Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Miller has posted over her last seven contests. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kate Gambro was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Ashley Moore was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Trinity has already played their next game, a 12-7 loss against Payton College Prep on the 28th. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-7 defeat against Fenwick on the 28th.
