The Baldwin County Tigers will take on the Mobile Christian Leopards at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
Baldwin County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs last Thursday, they were much more limited against Fairhope on Monday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-0. The Tigers have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Madilyn Byrd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Baldwin County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke McGowin, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Mobile Christian put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Foley get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory.
Karsyn Grantham made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grantham was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Hailey Padgett was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Padgett is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Lacey Betts, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Mobile Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Mobile Christian pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Baldwin County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Baldwin County came out on top in a nail-biter against Mobile Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Does Baldwin County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mobile Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
