Soccer Game Preview: Glendale vs. Rio Mesa

The Glendale Nitros and the Rio Mesa Spartans will round out the year against one another at at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

Last Monday, Glendale and Alhambra finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw.

Narek Naghdalyan and Raymond Mansuryan scored both of Glendale's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Meanwhile, Rio Mesa had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over the Dragons. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Dragons are ranked 695th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rio Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those six games. Glendale's draw makes their record 3-1-3 this season.
