The Guyer Wildcats will face off against the Rock Hill Blue Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Guyer will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Guyer's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They really took it to Braswell for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won seven contests by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Guyer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zephyr Kreye led the charge by throwing for 101 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one TD on the ground. Zane Rowe got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Guyer's run defense was locked in: Braswell could only muster -0.5 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Darrien Neal stood above the rest. He made six total tackles (3.0 for loss). Guyer hasn't allowed more than 3.5 yards per carry in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rock Hill, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on McKinney with a sharp 38-13 win on Friday. That looming 38-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Hawks yet this season.
A big part of Rock Hill's victory came down to the chemistry between Nate Vincent and his top target Bryce Allen. Vincent threw for 345 yards and five touchdowns while Allen picked up 165 receiving yards and four scores. Those 165 receiving yards gave Allen a new career-high. Leo Williams also helped out as he racked up 112 receiving yards.
Rock Hill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Donyae Williams, Jackson Leslie, and David Osei picked up one apiece. Williams also made four total tackles, which is notable because Rock Hill is 4-2 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.
Guyer's record is now 8-2. As for Rock Hill, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Guyer against Rock Hill in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 42-14 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
