Basketball Game Preview: Copper Canyon Aztecs vs. Independence Patriots

The Copper Canyon Aztecs will challenge the Independence Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Copper Canyon will head into Thursday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a 26-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Glendale 47-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Aztecs have posted since November 27, 2024.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Independence sidestepped Sierra Linda for a 63-61 win.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Copper Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Copper Canyon suffered a grim 70-45 defeat to Independence in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Copper Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
