Volleyball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Panthers vs. North Fork Miners

Montezuma-Cortez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Fork Miners. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Miners 25-15 in the first set.

Montezuma-Cortez actually scored more points across those five sets (104-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13.

When it comes to explaining why Montezuma-Cortez lost, don't look at Aubrie Matthias. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Pena, who had nine digs and three aces.
