Softball Recap: Jasper Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Jasper and Hartselle squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Jasper had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-5. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Lily Banks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Lexi Kilgore was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Emma Lou Franks was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Jasper's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 20-15. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Hartselle, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Jasper nor Hartselle have any future games scheduled.
