After losing to La Costa Canyon the last time they met, Granite Hills decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Granite Hills Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the La Costa Canyon Mavericks 6-5. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Mavericks on their field since February 24, 2022.

Luke Bailey looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Granite Hills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Miotti, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Miotti a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for Granite Hills and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for La Costa Canyon, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Granite Hills will take on San Marcos at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for La Costa Canyon, they will be taking part in a tournament against Cathedral Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
