Football Game Preview: IMG Academy Ascenders vs. Hun Raiders + How To Watch

The IMG Academy Ascenders will take on the Hun Raiders at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. IMG Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

IMG Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: East St. Louis, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (IMG Academy was ranked first). The Ascenders were the clear victors by a 38-14 margin over the Flyers on Saturday. The Ascenders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Le'Khy Thompkins and Jayden Wade were among the main playmakers for IMG Academy as the former rushed for 214 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry and the latter rushed for 72 yards. Those 214 rushing yards gave Thompkins a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: IMG Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was IMG Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zyron Forstall, Christopher Ah-Loe, and James Morrow, who each picked up one sack apiece. Jake Kreul was another major factor on D, forcing two fumbles, making five total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, Hun made sure to put some points up on the board against The First Academy on Friday. The Raiders strolled past the Royals with points to spare, taking the game 31-14.

Hun's win came from a few key players IMG Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nick Diamond, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Lukas Prock, who threw for 311 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes.

IMG Academy's record is now 8-0. As for Hun, their record now sits at 7-3.
