Baseball Recap: Western Gets the Win

While Western put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Sunrise Mountain. The Warriors didn't even let the Miners on the board, marking the Warriors' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Miners recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Edgar Garcia made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Western is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-12 otherwise. Garcia was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. What's more, he posted three doubles, the most he's had since back in May of 2025.

Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Western's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Sunrise Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.

Coincidentally, Western and Sunrise Mountain will both be playing Cheyenne the next time they take the field. The Miners will head out to face the Desert Shields at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Warriors will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
