Basketball Recap: Hopewell Piles Up the Points Against William Monroe

With a playoff win on the line, Hopewell rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 68-39 win over the William Monroe Dragons. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Hopewell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deshawn Spellman, who went 10-for-15 to rack up 23 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Spellman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephon Cherry, who shot 80% from the field on his way to 18 points and six boards.

Hopewell is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. William Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 22-5.

Coming up, Hopewell will welcome Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Meridian comes in on 27 and Hopewell on ten. William Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
