Football Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Finds Playoff Glory Versus Knob Noster

St. Michael the Archangel had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 63-21 victory over the Knob Noster Panthers. The Guardians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 24 points or more this season.

Gage Burgess continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 186 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 268 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. Those 186 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Luis Tellado was another major influence, as he rushed for 109 yards and ran in a TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Michael the Archangel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 399 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Michael the Archangel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Wyatt Herrman.

St. Michael the Archangel is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points over those games. As for Knob Noster, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.

Looking ahead, St. Michael the Archangel will square off against Boonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Guardians will need to watch out since the Pirates have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. Knob Noster does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
