Basketball Recap: Patrick Henry Academy Piles Up the Points Against Thomas Heyward Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Patrick Henry Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Thomas Heyward Academy Rebels 57-24. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Patriots just coasted through the last quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Patrick Henry Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lillian Lucas, who went 12 of 24 on her way to 25 points along with seven steals and five boards. With that strong performance, Lucas is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Futch, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 12 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks.

Despite the loss, Thomas Heyward Academy still got an impressive performance from Brooke Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Patrick Henry Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Thomas Heyward Academy, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Patrick Henry Academy will host St. John's Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomas Heyward Academy, they will head out to face off against Colleton Prep Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Colleton Prep Academy's defense has only allowed 28 points per game this season, so Thomas Heyward Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
