Covington is 2-8 against Seeger since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. Covington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Covington fell victim to West Vigo and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 12-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Trojans were not able to get on the board.
Covington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Bishop, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Meanwhile, Seeger posted their closest victory since May 23, 2025 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Southmont, sneaking past 8-7. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Mounties recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Peyton Grimmett was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. He has become a key player for Seeger: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Macyn Hughes was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Hayden Howard was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Seeger was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Seeger's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Covington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Covington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seeger struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
