Recap: Liberty County Bulldogs vs. Aucilla Christian Warriors
The Liberty County Bulldogs took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They secured a 43-39 W over Aucilla Christian. Given Liberty County's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Aucilla Christian is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kashon Chambers led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gustavo Rubio, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Aucilla Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Bass. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bass scored a full 38.5% of Aucilla Christian's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Benjamin Faglie was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Liberty County's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Aucilla Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Liberty County will be playing at home against Community Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Aucilla Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Wewahitchka at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wewahitchka focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
