Basketball Game Preview: Calhoun County Saints vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans

Calhoun County is 8-2 against Ridge Spring-Monetta since January of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Calhoun County Saints just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Calhoun County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-41 to Williston-Elko. The defeat continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Cassidy Pough, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Raniya Tyler, who posted 13 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Ridge Spring-Monetta beat Horse Creek Academy 52-44 on Tuesday.

Ridge Spring-Monetta is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Calhoun County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Calhoun County skirted past Ridge Spring-Monetta 41-39 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ridge Spring-Monetta's Ny'Asia Young, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 20 rebounds.
