Basketball Recap: Sterne Takes a Loss

Sterne lost against Marshall back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Sterne Dolphins took a hard 62-44 fall against the Marshall Phoenix.

Despite the loss, Sterne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Andrew Jones dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Those 13 points gave Jones a new career-high. Smith Trimble was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Sterne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Marshall, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Sterne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-45 win against Kirby Prep on the 14th. As for Marshall, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on City Arts and Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
