The New Haven Rockets are taking a road trip to take on the Yale Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. New Haven will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
New Haven barely beat Merritt Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Mustangs on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Lamar Pearson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, New Haven got a massive performance out of Will Bosco, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lucas Lorber, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
New Haven hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Yale beat Imlay City 9-4 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
New Haven's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Yale, their record now sits at 14-8.
New Haven might still be hurting after the 20-0 loss they got from Yale when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
