Softball Recap: Ripon's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Ripon unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 8-2 to the East Union Lancers. The Indians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lancers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Angelina Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Alana Hernandez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Izabelle Spurzem also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Ripon's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for East Union, their record now sits at 5-7.

Looking ahead, Ripon will head out on the road to take on Orestimba at 4:00 p.m. on the 8th. As for East Union, they will host Sierra at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Union is facing Sierra at the right time seeing as Sierra is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
