Recap: Cyprus Pirates vs. Granger Lancers

There's no place like home for the Cyprus Pirates, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Granger with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 82-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Leading Cyprus to victory were Stone Tia and Koli Fosita. Tia scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Fosita scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Fosita continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Xian Brown was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight assists and two steals.

Granger's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daudi Aweyso, who scored 24 points along with two steals. That was a full 37.5% of Granger's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Stephen Kpaleh, who scored 22 points.

Even though they lost, Granger were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Cyprus' victory bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Granger, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hunter the next time they take the court. Cyprus will head out to face Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Granger will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
