Basketball Recap: St. John Paul II Catholic Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the St. John Paul II Catholic Lions were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 26-21 to the North Valley Christian Academy Lions. The match marked St. John Paul II Catholic's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, St. John Paul II Catholic still got an impressive performance from Janey Lopez, who posted 12 points.

North Valley Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kalina Santor out in front who scored 12 points and six steals. That's the most points Santor has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Triniti Terracciano, who earned nine points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for St. John Paul II Catholic and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for North Valley Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

St. John Paul II Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 24-15 victory against Trivium Prep on the 10th. North Valley Christian Academy has also already played their next matchup, a 41-29 win against Camp Verde on the 9th.
