Basketball Recap: Liberty County's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Liberty County unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 71-63 to the Malone Tigers. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 58-54.

When it comes to explaining why Liberty County lost, don't look at Kashon Chambers. Despite the final result, he went 14 of 25 on his way to 31 points and seven boards. Chambers' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Micheal Glisson, who posted eight points along with six assists and four steals.

Malone's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamerious Sims, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sims a new career-high in boards. Jackson Welch was another key player, putting up 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Liberty County's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 14-2. As for Malone, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Liberty County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-51 victory against Altha on the 17th. As for Malone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-51 win against Poplar Springs on the 17th.
