Baseball Recap: North Laurel Makes It Six in a Row at Home

The home team had won the previous five meetings between North Laurel and Madison Southern, and North Laurel kept the tradition alive. The Jaguars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles on Saturday, sneaking past 7-5. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Eagles last Thursday, they had to take a 5-1 defeat.

North Laurel let Carter Kelley and Ashton Napier run wild. Kelley went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Napier went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. North Laurel is undefeated when Napier posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Cooper Parman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: North Laurel lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

North Laurel pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Madison Southern, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, North Laurel will head out to square off against Jackson County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Madison Southern, they will take on Danville at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
