Football Recap: St. Augustine Saints vs. Point Loma Pointers

St. Augustine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell to the Point Loma Pointers 21-16. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pointers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2019.

Although St. Augustine took the loss, they still got scores from Pai Polamalu and Matthew Horne.

St. Augustine wouldn't let Point Loma keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. Polamalu led the group effort, picking up two of those forced fumbles all by himself.

A big part of Point Loma's win came down to the chemistry between Ryder Watson and his top target Romeo Carter. Watson rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown while Carter picked up 61 receiving yards. The dominant performance gave Watson a new career-high in rushing yards.

St. Augustine's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Point Loma, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

St. Augustine will host Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln is coming into the contest with four straight wins on the road, so St. Augustine will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Point Loma, they will venture away from home to square off against La Jolla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
