Volleyball Recap: Calvary Beats Illini Central for Their Third Straight Win

Calvary had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Illini Central Cougars by a score of 2-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Saints also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Calvary was: they took both sets by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-15.

Ainsley Johnson paced Calvary's offense, picking up eight kills. Johnson got some help from Sophia McQuillan and her 12 assists. Elesha Levine and Elizabeth Animasaun kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Illini Central lost, don't look at Morgan Peterson. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs and one assist. Peterson has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Calvary's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Illini Central, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Calvary didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Cornerstone Christian on the 27th. As for Illini Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Mt. Olive on the 27th.
