Basketball Recap: Nolan Rueff's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ashton-Franklin Center over Hiawatha

Ashton-Franklin Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hiawatha Hawks. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 66-51.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nolan Rueff, who posted 15 points. Nate Becker was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Ashton-Franklin Center's loss dropped their record down to 7-21. As for Hiawatha, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-14.

Coming up, Ashton-Franklin Center will head out on the road to square off against Eastland at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Ashton-Franklin Center has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Hiawatha, they will host Newark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
