Volleyball Recap: Oakwood Victorious

Oakwood hadn't done well against St. Joseph-Ogden recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Comets walked away with a 2-0 win over the Spartans. The Comets were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Spartans, so the Comets were just returning the favor.

Oakwood never let St. Joseph-Ogden on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21.

Caydence Vermillion paced Oakwood's offense, picking up ten kills. Vermillion were helped by Sidney Dunavan and Ashtyn Dailey, who contributed eight assists each. Finally, Vermillion was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Oakwood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for St. Joseph-Ogden, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Oakwood will take on Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Comets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for St. Joseph-Ogden, they will be playing at home against Hoopeston at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
