Softball Recap: Oakland Extends Winning Streak to Five

Oakland had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Sycamore on Sunday. Oakland put the hurt on Sycamore with a sharp 13-0 victory. The contest marked the Patriots' most dominant win of the season so far.

The team relied heavily on Jada Ellison, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Addie Peay was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Ellison wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Oakland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for Oakland: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.2.

The victory (which was Oakland's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Sycamore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7-2 record this season.

Oakland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 victory against Wayne County on the 30th. As for Sycamore, they will face off against Montgomery Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
