Football Game Preview: Severna Park Falcons vs. Old Mill Patriots

Severna Park is 1-6 against Old Mill since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Falcons will host the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Severna Park comes in on three and Old Mill on five.

Severna Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Meade 44-7 on Friday. With that victory, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 26.4 points per game.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jonathan Wark and Graham Guenther. Wark rushed for 82 yards and a pair of TDs while Guenther rushed for 58 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Wark a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Severna Park was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive games.

Severna Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Landon Williams and Kamari Brown. Another thorn in Meade's side was Noah Croghan, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Old Mill never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-0 win over North County. That looming 49-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.

Old Mill's win came from a few key players Severna Park will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Makel Wilder, who picked up 110 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. He showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 54 yards. Meech Jones was another key player, rushing for 69 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.

Old Mill's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Severna Park, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Severna Park was dealt a bruising 35-0 loss at the hands of Old Mill in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
