Softball Recap: Kirtland Central Victorious

After only two runs in their last matchup, Kirtland Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cleveland on Saturday. The Broncos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Storm. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered a 10-9 loss the last time these two teams met.

Tamirra Chee was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Hurtado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Kirtland Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in five consecutive games.

Kirtland Central's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Cleveland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Kirtland Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-8 defeat against Aztec on the 29th. As for Cleveland, they have also already played their next game, a 12-0 victory against Sandia on the 29th.
