Baseball Recap: Wayne Takes a Loss

Sissonville hit Wayne with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pioneers came up short against the Indians, falling 12-2. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Wayne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Brown, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Wayne has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Sissonville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.

Coming up, Wayne will face off against Point Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sissonville, they will square off against Shady Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
