Softball Recap: Federal Way Eagles vs. Decatur Golden Gators
Federal Way had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it six. They came up short against the Decatur Golden Gators, falling 18-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 back in April.
Serena Sailiai made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Sosephina Sailiai was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Decatur, they moved to 9-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Considering they have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Decatur's side, Sam Hackney was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kahea Sharpe, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs and one stolen base.
