Baseball Game Preview: UIC College Prep Firecats vs. ITW David Speer Academy Pride

The UIC College Prep Firecats will square off against the ITW David Speer Academy Pride at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

UIC College Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Rauner by a score of 11-8 on Saturday.

Tristan Pierre was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Jones, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, ITW David Speer Academy entered their tilt with Bulls College Prep on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Bulls.

ITW David Speer Academy got a big performance out of Jonathan Soto, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs. Soto is becoming a predictor of the Pride's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Keryel Figueroa, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

ITW David Speer Academy pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for UIC College Prep, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4-1.

UIC College Prep might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from ITW David Speer Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago.
