Volleyball Recap: Needville's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Needville entered their tilt with St. John XXIII on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Bluejays not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 5, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Needville's got stronger as the match went on, holding St. John XXIII to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-16, 25-14.

Sophia Zeitz paced Needville's offense, picking up 18 kills. Zeitz got some help from Kelsey Chumchal and her 16 assists. Chumchal was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Needville's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for St. John XXIII, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Needville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Friendswood on the 23rd. As for St. John XXIII, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fort Bend Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on September 2.
