While Canyon might've come up empty on Saturday, Gilbert Vargas wasn't going down without a fight. Vargas wasn't messing around, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. The pitching appearance was his sixth straight with two or fewer walks.
